MUSC Health receives $25K donation

LANCASTER, S.C. (March 4, 2024) – MUSC Health Lancaster Medical Center has received a $25,000 commitment from Domtar, a leading provider of fiber-based products, to support MUSC Health Lancaster and Chester medical centers’ clinical programs.

The donation from Domtar will primarily support the continued development of clinical programs, including the Graduate Medical Education (GME) program at MUSC Health Lancaster Medical Center. The GME program focuses on training physicians to provide exceptional care, particularly in rural areas. This partnership aims to establish a robust pipeline of essential physicians and improve care.

“Domtar's generous donation will profoundly impact health care in our community,” said Scott Broome, CEO of MUSC Health Lancaster Medical Center. “With enhanced support for our clinical programs, we can provide better access and quality of health care services in Lancaster and Chester counties, ultimately improving health outcomes for residents.”

Domtar, with a longstanding commitment to community support, donates and dedicates thousands of employee hours to enhance life in the communities where they operate. Their involvement spans causes large and small, global and local, reflecting their dedication as good neighbors and corporate citizens. “We are proud to support MUSC’s GME program of physician training that targets rural communities in need of stronger health care,” said Jan Martin, Domtar Director of Communications and Public Affairs.

“Through partnerships with organizations like Domtar,” added Broome, “We can make a meaningful difference in the lives of South Carolinians.”
