Child Family Health International (CFHI) Partnership

Child Family Health International (CFHI) and the Center for Global Health have partnered together through an institutional affiliation agreement to engage MUSC students and trainees in a wide variety of community health projects in low- and middle-income countries. Providing specially designed programs for MUSC students and trainees, CFHI is a leader in global health education, facilitating global health experiences that meet rigorous ethical, safety, and academic standards.

• Locations: 40 programs in 12 countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Ghana, India, Mexico, Philippines, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, United States

• How to apply: Complete the CFHI online application. To waive the $45 application fee, enter the code “MUSC”

• Students and trainees can choose from one of the 40 programs based on location or specific health focus.

CFHI’s community-based global health education programs embed students in existing health systems alongside local medical and public health professionals. Students are matched with local clinicians, who serve as preceptors in the clinical setting and offer a unique perspective on the local culture and the community’s health system. Participants rotate through clinics and hospitals, attend lectures, and become immersed in the healthcare system of the community.

CFHI places a strong emphasis on public health, cross-cultural competency, and community engagement by involving students in sustainable healthcare services to underserved communities.
