MUSC and Cigna renew contract through 2026

CHARLESTON, S.C. (November 14, 2023) - MUSC Health is pleased to announce that its contract with Cigna Healthcare will be renewed through 2026. Since May, MUSC Health has been engaged in negotiations with Cigna to establish fair rates that benefit both parties.

“Our goal was to secure a new agreement that enables MUSC Health to attract and retain world class physicians, while addressing the escalating costs prevalent in the health care industry,” said Karyn Rae, MUSC Health chief of payor relations and reimbursement.

Under the new agreement, our Cigna-insured patients will maintain in-network access to trusted local physicians and hospitals in the statewide MUSC health care system.

MUSC Health will continue developing new contracts with insurers to provide the best possible coverage for our patients and the community.

We greatly appreciate all patients who trust us with their health care.
